Privacy Policy

This page says, in plain language, what information the site collects and what happens to it. Our website address is: https://alternatirement.com.

What we collect

Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe, we collect your email address, and your first name if you add it, so that we can send you the newsletter. The subscribe form also has one optional question, asking what weighs on you most about the years ahead – we only receive your answers if you choose to tick any of the boxes.

Contact messages. If you write to us through the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message, so that we can reply.

Server records. Like almost every website, our hosting keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, for security and troubleshooting.

Visitor counting

We use a visitor counting service to count visits and see which articles are read. The service sets a cookie to tell a returning visitor from a new one, and records technical details such as your IP address, browser and the pages you viewed. The service processes that data under its own privacy policy. We do not run advertising trackers.

What we don’t do

We never sell, rent or trade your details, and we never hand them to anyone for their own marketing. Ever.

Who else touches the data

Your details are handled only by the services that run the site: our hosting provider; the form software on the site itself, which stores form entries so we can read them; our email sending service, which sends the newsletter and the subscription confirmation emails; the anti-spam check on our forms, which processes technical details to tell people from bots; our visitor counting service, as described above; and our payment provider, if you donate, as described below. Each works under its own privacy policy.

Cookies

This site uses the cookies it needs in order to function, and the visitor counting cookie described above. If that ever changes, this page will say so.

Donations and links to other sites

The Donate button on our Support page takes you to our payment provider, which processes your payment under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your card details.

Articles and pages link out to other websites, including services we recommend. Once you follow a link, that site’s privacy policy applies, not this one. Some of these may be affiliate links, which may use cookies to record that you arrived from here.

How long we keep your data

Newsletter details are kept while you are subscribed, and deleted when you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Contact messages are kept for as long as we need them to reply and keep track of the conversation. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period.

Your choices

Every newsletter email carries an unsubscribe link. One click and you’re off the list.

To see, correct or delete any information we hold about you, write to us through the Contact page and we’ll deal with it promptly. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for legal or security purposes.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with its date. This version: 2 November 2026.
